Target problem

The poverty rate is fast increasing in North East India and the per capita income is in a decline especially in the rural areas. The unemployment rates are increasing and there is too much dependence on the primary sector. Though there is growth in the tertiary sector yet it is limited to the cities. With not much private investment happening in the secondary sector and not much growth in government jobs the employment scenario is worsening day by day.

"Tamul Plate Marketing Pvt Ltd (TPMPL) has a two-tier system, where the production in managed by village-level producers and the marketing is done by the firm under the brand of Tambul Leaf Plates. The plates are produced by village-level micro enterprises. Currently, there are 100 such units and . TPMPL sells the machinery to rural producers and provides a 100 per cent buy-back guarantee for the plates. These are purchased from the rural producers at a fair price and then TPMPL does quality checks, packaging and finally markets the plates across India. Tamul Plates produces and markets disposable plates and bowls made from arecanut (palm) tree leaves under the Tambul Leaf Plates brand. The company produces dinnerware through a network of affiliates across the tribal regions of Northeast India ."
