Spandana is a Hyderabad-based Micro Finance Company (non-banking financial company) that provides financial services like micro-credit and credit-plus services to low-income households and individuals to improve their quality of life.It focuses on poor households in rural, semi-urban and urban areas. Poor people usually address their need for financial services through a variety of financial relationships, mostly informal. Credit is available from informal moneylenders, but usually at a very high cost to borrowers. Moreover the products and services offered by Banks are not always considered “accessible” and “convenient” to the customer mainly due to their service terms and processing times. So in this scenario micro-credit is useful in helping the low-income community indirectly avail services like healthcare and education for their children.

Funding and Operating Model
Total funding raised
After transitioning into an NBFC in 2004-05, Spandana has now been raising funds from diversified sources – Development Financial Institutions, Public Sector Banks, Private Sector Banks, Foreign Banks, and other NBFCs besides the capital and money markets. Their operating costs are much lower than comparable costs of Banks and STPL NBFCs. The delinquency levels are nowhere comparable: <1% to other's over 5% historical average. The key differentiator is that they strongly believe that there is no good or bad client, it all depends on how they treat them and maintain a very high degree of client connect and therefore ensure that delinquencies are negligible.Their aim is to be one of the most significant microfinance service provider by offering a range of financial and non financial products and services to low income households and individuals to improve the quality of life.
