Target problem The initiative is aimed at providing basic awareness around menstrual hygiene aspects to women and girls across the far flung remote villages and slum areas in India. Women have been found to use sand, ash, jute gunny bag, dry grass, newspaper, plastic to the dirtiest cloth available or nothing at all. They lack access and can not afford the market pads.
Key product / Service Goonj uses clean cotton/semi cotton cloth to produce sanitary pads called 'My Pad' as a tool to break the shame & silence around this most tabooed subject of menstruation. This initiative caters to 3 As- Awareness, Accessibility, Affordability by rural women and girls for safe alternative with a lot of awareness.
